Visited the International Island Classic last Saturday. Spotted 6 XBs around the circuit but no Tubers. Got chatting to a local guy with a very late XB12R who had not heard of the latest shutdown. He had also not heard of the Buell spares guys local to him in Melbourne!
Saw Jeremy McWilliams win 2 Challenge races and Peter Hickman reach second in the second.
For me though the Vincent engined racers were the best sight and sound, especially the immaculate sidecar outfit (of which I have a photograph but am unable to attach it at the moment).
Spotted a really cool older gentleman riding off into the sunset on a Brough Superior. Which set me thinking. He was an engineer that pursued his dream of an ultimate motorcycle, using a large V twin from a known supplier. The war put paid to his company though.
How much is a Brough worth nowadays?

War, Trump, Brexit. All does much the same, ends lots of good things. The old boys bike though is worth a bit. I actually know someone who paid 76K for one some time ago. It did have some providence but they do seem quite scarce.

You could buy a brand new, new generation Brough Superior built in Toulouse for £53,000. Why would someone pay £250,000 at auction for an old one? lOl

One of the US team racing at Philip Island was Pat Mooney, an ex-pat Brit who has lived in California for many years. He has a serious collection of bikes including Buells and has had serious success racing both 1125Rs and EBR1190s in the US.

Adam may want to check your photo album as well for any shots you might have of Maria Costello :4roz:
