Some sensible advice, please :D

Back on the Hyper yesterday after some extensive arse end plastic surgery, bike not me. Bike had been on the Optimate for a couple of weeks - started and ran fine. I had the heated jacked switched on and the bike ran great both ways. Came to start it this morning and it hardly turned - headlight and dash lights etc came on but wouldn't turn over.

Got the volt meter on it and it was at 12.1. What should it be, I was thinking 13.8 off and 14.5 when running? Is that correct? What the best process for testing?

I know I could Google it, but I don't want to :)

Thanks.

12.9 sitting
Drops to 11.3 on starting
13.4 when at 8k

Had a look for obvious earthing points and checked the battery connections were ok. They were but couldn't find any earth points. I'm guessing it's not charging correctly.

Thoughts?

Have you got an alarm or something else sucking the charge off at night?

Only the standard immobilizer that comes with it. I don't fit alarms, I consider them to be the work of the devil :D

It was fine over night last night. If I make it home today I'm going to check it with the heated grips on and heated jacket plugged in and see if that's too much for it.

I had a new rectifier in Aug 15 and the battery is original. All a bit weird.

It sounds like the same symptoms I experienced, a new battery fixed it. How old is your battery?

It's only 9 years old. I was hoping for 15 :yup:

Got home ok and checked the voltage when switched off, 12v. At 5000 rpm, 12.4 and with the jacket plugged in, 11.9 -12.

Not charging?

A quick test would be to swap the battery with the one on your Panigale, they may well be the same/similar. This would eliminate any battery problems and then recheck the charging.
