I would say get the HD one, but embarrassingly, and as a research project you must understand, I bought a Varta off beGay for about £30. The Big Issue (help the homeless) is that fact that the terminal posts (as on any non-HD battery) are set back from the battery body, so I have used a few brass washers (off beGay) to space the terminals off so they don't clash with the battery body.

My S1 arrived from the USA with a Walmart battery of unknown age and that lasted 5 years in my hands IIRC so I'll be interested to see how my Varta does (and it is porbably no different than any other battery - except Motobatt).

Talking of Motobatt, I bought one off a guy leaving Buell, brand new, boxed etc. and it sat in a corner for a year or so, but when I came to use it (after charging it), it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding...

It's still early days but I'm running a lithium battery on my xb9 weights nothing and has a lot of cranking amps..a lot more than the lead equivalent not silly money either and was made by the company that supply ktm oe stuff...comes with 2 year warranty and no issues so far ...a few mates said lithium type batteries are not reliable but so far so good I think the reliability issues might be down to guys not using the right charger ...I bought it mainly because there is a 4kg weight saving !

Looks just like my Varta looking at the terminal posts... Could it even be the same red tape?

I guess this is the Shoria Wobblyone has fitted...

Wow your Varta is cheap Nick the only difference I can see is mine is 12V - 240A...priced £66-99, and the Varta is 12V - 200A. The Shorai is 12V - 210A and imo quite expensive at £168-91

Maybe mine is inferior (I hadn't noticed the 200-240A)... :D

I wouldn't call it inferior Nick Varta has a reputation for being among the best batteries out there, they are a standard fitting in a V.W. or at least they use to be, if not still.
And although my Yuasa is considered a quality battery it's still more than twice the price of yours, actually almost 2/3rds the price. :headbang:
