Hi everybody,

Over the summer I noticed that my bike was heating up quite a while while riding in France for holidays.
Also, the shine of the headers has disappeared.

Talking with some fellow riders, I was advised on getting the exhaust ceramic coated.
Someone talked me about Zircotec and Performance 1 Coatings.

Any recommendations?
I have just been wondering around their websites and thought the latter one pretty good.

They're stainless headers. Rotate the engine down remove them and get them professionally polished then just keep on top of them. Shameless plug download/file.php?id=10015&mode=view

OK. I'm not aware anyone down there that has been used for coatings, but it's worth considering what has been said about polishing?

I have used Camcoat in the distant past, about 15 years ago - long time ago so not a recommendation (in 15 years, things can get a lot better or worse).

My race headers are ceramic coated and still look Ok after 13 years of all weather (and all winter) riding. Not too sure that companies would touch used headers though. Maybe wrong.

I started out with nothing and still got most of it left.

i had new steel headers done by camcoat and another company, they went rusty after 400miles and riding in dry weather, save your money and polish them if they are stainless.

I had zircotec on my xb12r when I bought it secondhand. Didn't do many miles and the coating was coming off around the silencer weld as the whole system was done. Also the rough surface was a bugger to clean.

That doesn't sound right. Not calling you a liar at all. I'm just thinking perhaps an improper selection of coating or they didn't prep them properly.

I have 2 full exhausts in my garage that are ceramic coated and they both have 15 years on them. I'm somewhat coastal and the humidity is hell here. They still look like they did when they were done in 2000 and 2001. Mine are coated inside and out and were done new.

My camcoated muffler on the Uly lasted about a year before going rusty again, but to be fair it probably gets its fair share of stoning...
