We need to revisit the description...

Thunderbolt is an S3 or S3T, made between 1997 and 2002

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... erbolt.htm

XB12s were Lightnings, Ulysseses and Firebolts... I reckon yours is a Firebolt...

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... t%2007.htm

Firebolts have the ECM mounted under the fairing, this is quite a benign environment for them and failures are uncommon (cue :maz: to tell us otherwise).

What is the issue? Is it a case of needing a TPS reset (see the How To section)?

What year is the bike? The ECMs changed at 2005 (minor change) and 2008 (revolutionary change)...

And where are you based? You are welcome to try my spare to confirm the problem...

Just had a read of your previous posts and it is a 2004 model Firebolt. That has the earlier (GB231) ECM, a 2005/06/07 (IB310) will work too.

Regardless of what you buy, you will need to do a TPS reset...

It's in harleyworld in chesterfield at the moment. They have fitted new throttle cables and are trying to set the tps but think the Ecb might not be talking to the fuel pump. More info coming tomorrow

I'm in matlock. Any help would be great.

Is that the sharp type of stabbing pain from the opening of the wallet in Chesterfield ? Don't know about a TPS reset, but charge up the defibrillator just before they let you have it back. There's a selection of good blokes on here that are quite good at all this, and one at least that's very good if you don't fancy it yourself. In those well know words :-
" What we have hear is a failure to communicate " before you go to the Harvey Dickinson Dealer.

Should have taken it to Maz trev. Bet he has an ecu in stock as well. An xb9 ecu with a reflash for a xb12 map will also work. The 90 quid an hour HD will charge you while they fanny about, that's what's gonna hurt the most.

Heck, £90 per hour for some greasy oik who has likely never put a spanner on a Buell before? Oh dear.

Are you saying that what I wrote doesn't have a 90% likely hood of being true?

A while ago there was a well know repair specialist who had a workshop falling down around his ears. He is frequently mentioned on here, and is very much up to speed on, "how to", and "fixes".
If one would care to view the Chesterfield "shop" of Harvey D, one may see that not all of the hourly charge goes on the spanner man ! Spend your cash with the man who can, or at least if your near ask him first. Oh, and he doesn't wear those leather trousers with the arse cut out ! He might if you pay him more but then your bike would work too. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
PS. If he hasn't got it Mr N P will have under his bench. :yup:
