Hi all,

Just about to buy a new van for my business, but also looking to bring my X1 back from Tenerife in the back of it. Any suggestions on what the smallest van I can get away with that will comfortably carry it with retaining straps etc, low loading height, with mirrors removed only? Have other stuff to bring back , but I can fit it around the bike.

Other idea is to ride it back, but it involves a 36 hour ferry and a ride through Spain, and France ( :( )

Thanks in advance

PS anyone got the exact height, length, width and weight of a 2001 X1?

An S1 with mirrors fits in a high roof "transit connect" along with a yam tt500, to give you an idea. With the passenger seat collapsed it is easier. Dry weight 200Kgs . Don`t brake hard. Wheel base 1410mm (google) lOl

Think so , it`s the one if the passenger seat goes down flat you can get 14 sheets of 12mm plasterboard in, don`t corner hard...

Is a trailer an easier option?

Did think about that, maybe the ride back would do me good.......but I need to buy a van for my business....throw camping gear in on the way down etc......

:maz: will get some business from me when it returns if he can still source the parts ;)

The standard Vauxhall Vivaro or Mercedes Vito are all good for the job.
Check they have the floor rings in place to strap the bike down onto.

Don't know if it's of interest to you, but I will be replacing two of our vans in about 3 months - 2010 Vivaro and 2012 Vito. Owned since new, and always dealer/garage serviced as per the book.

Mirrors off you can get an X1 in a 2013 Citroen Berlingo van as the passenger seat drops flat in line with the back of the van.
I have done it!
