still have the original Genesis battery on the 98 S1W with the terminals close together on top. Question is what do I replace it with? presume it would have to be sealed/gel and maybe some adaptation as noone seams to make batteries with the terminals in the same position as the original. Does anyone do a battery of the same dimensions so I can use original strap?
any help will be appreciated...Cheers

I believe there was an upgrade for all S1's to fit a larger battery ...this consisted of a new battery tray etc as well .......I assume because the original size battery was no longer available.

I don't think it was a recall as such but an upgrade kit after the original fitment battery was no longer available ............ I've seen lots of S1's with the new tray fitted which i think meant relocating the regulator as well ...i'm sure some S1 owners on here will clarify .

My original battery was horizontal as I guess yours is. The tray is not available any more I'd imagine. I got mine years ago 2nd hand from Maz. The new battery is vertical. I fitted a Varta which was about £45 at the time and my strap is a modified sportster one. The Voltage regulator sits on the side of the battery tray.

You could contact Barden with all specs etc. A very good battery specialist.

It was an official Buell upgrade so not a prob. Doubt if you get an original style battery but good luck. :yup:

They may still be available, Maz checked for me a year or so ago and they came with a battery at not a very shocking price...

It would have been more shocking had you charged it.

Hi, was there a happy ending to this post? Was a battery found that was a similar size so that the original battery tray could be retained?
