My M2 is running well but someone with a Yamaha V twin- advised me to try these ....Splitfire plugs.

Of course the advertisement makes all sorts of claims supported by references from a range of bikers with a range of bikes.

Just wondered what the expert opinion on these is .........the science makes a degree of sense.

A good friend of mine tried some years ago in a Virago no sorry a Yam TR1 and though they were rubbish so went back to NGK.

I haven't heard many good reports from people who have tried them.

I had one in my RD125LC when I first starteds riding, I took it in for an MOT, and to get it looked at, it was running a bit ropey. the mechanic binned the splitfire and put an NGK in.

The standard plugs used on Buell’s do the job and are specified by the manufacturer to suite the engine. Unless you have made significant changes (to head/cylinder internals) why bother? If you are experiencing problems with plug fouling etc. I would say that is a symptom not a cause.
Having said that it may be worth a try but if your only dyno is your arse unless they just don't work you will be hard pushed to tell the difference IMHO that is.

Yeah, just use std Harley plugs... So you don't forget, jot it down in your FEI-LOfax

Has anyone ever noticed any difference between branded plugs? Either they work, or they don't is my guess. I did try Splitfires a good while ago and I thought they were good. But when I switched to something else there was no noticeable difference. Kings new clothes?

Actually, in response to my own question- When I used to run air cooled Yamaha 2 strokes (a loooong while ago), the only plugs that lasted more than 3 days were NGK's. They lasted a week. When they were 75p each and I earned £12 a week, that was some serious money

I think I tried them along time ago in one of Harleys and did not notice any change in performance.

Unlike my t0-smoke Benelli 250 2C which showed a strong preference for gold-palladium spark plugs.

Any oldies here remember the old Lodge plugs that has 3 electrodes - and you could take them apart I had hours of fun with these when I were a lad

Has anyone tried indexing their plugs or seen any dyno evidence that it works

Yes and yes, but only has a measureable effect with lean mixtures IIRC.
