But, you know they would be heavier therefore they are too heavy! You are right I was going to spin some up in stainless when I did the bearings but came to the conclussion "I am doing the bearings and only I remove my wheels, I have a left handed torque wrench and I know what to do with it - no point in making the spacers then".
:old:

It occurred to me to get the last set of tyres fitted before I renewed the wheel bearings to remove any unknowns such as to clamping into tyre fitter. I will ask next time if they know what torque is applied, but this looks like a simple hand tight clamping wheel. Ok so maybe I'm being paranoid again, but the outer (or none seating bearing opp disc side) moved against the spacer with a moderate tap when I was offering up the bearings (although wheel was air heated and bearing was fridge cool). I wonder if this side moves a little closer with each wheel fit, even at correct torque? :? Will check feel of spacer next time rear wheel comes off!

On my rear wheel, there is no spacer axial movement...

None on mine pash, as in no perceptable movement, but spacer will just slide up and down between bearings (laterally?) if I push them. My SKF's had side play between races when new so pressing bearings in tight should take up that freeplay(inners will be pressed hard against the outers). Manual does not make it clear that this is a good thing, but bearing experts should know :? I figured a few microns movement are better than nowt for heat expansion. :?:

But will my spacers move the next time I slacken the spindles? ;)

Mine are on a set of wheels I don't use at the moment, they have done 7k and feel fine on the wheel balancer.
