for the XB
all i did was take off the airbox top & base plate
where the two tubes that enter it, put a short bit of rubber pipe between them linking them together.

the two pipes that come off the top of each rocker cover, join using a "Y" 3/8" shaped plastic pipe joint
available from any local car spares place , then on the third leg of the "Y" fit a length of rubber pipe
and run it to either a vented catch can , or run the end of the pipe down so any crud runs on the floor ,REMEMBER if you do that , not towards tyre or brake disc
i ran mine down next to the oil cooler

so all the kit you need is a "Y" joint , and some 3/8" heater hose, a meter should be plenty
i never needed , jubilee clips , as the hose fit is tight on the "Y" connector
catch can & filter is optional , loads on E-bay

Motorrads post above has some good how to pics in it :yup:

Brilliant ,
thanks guys , :yup:
think I will go with Nutah , seems easier than messing about with filters and catch cans etc.
Did I read somewhere about removing the rubber trumpet thing in the middle of the air box ?
My Uly already has a K&N air filter , are they standard ? but its covered in sh*te from oil mist , is it worth cleaning or should I just lob a new one in ?

Thanks again ,

Mike.

I have the breather tube also run down to the ground next to the oil cooler into the chin fairing (without a catscan)
and accasionally there are a few drops.
so i think you can let the end open ,but it depends on how long your rides are

And the k&n airfilters are reusable many times ,clean it with this
http://twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artik ... ir_filters
or this one
http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/425.html
and all is good to go!

Mike "Did I read somewhere about removing the rubber trumpet thing in the middle of the air box ? "

i think you are talking about the "snorkel" , which only the early XB models had 03/04 ? IIRC
they let air in through a hole in the left side of the frame

the later ones have a mesh type vent around the fuel filler neck , so no "snorkel"

the trumpet in the middle needs to be kept in place :yup:

Phew !
thanks Nutah , nearly junked it ,
I tend to do most of my reading on here after everyone has buggered off to bed so I am half asleep , never sure if I have read something or dreamt it .

Thanks brother in buells too , great links , I might even do the catch can idea at some point in the future.

Thanks again guys :worthy:

Mike.
