lOl changing the front pads..well it would have been if the pin that holds em in wasn't seized solid :sad1:

after much agro , finally got it sorted an back together ,gave the pistons & calliper a good clean up then bled the front & rear brakes through , to get rid of the old fluid

bit more than ten minutes after all.... :hehe:

so did i Ray with a dremel :x nothing else could get in the clearance
the swearing was most excellent :shut:
as the alan screw head was solid I ended up having to drill it through m6 clearance
on my mates pillar drill
then put an m6 bolt & nylok through to hold the pads in

I do hope it was a low tensile strength Stainless one - I I hate being alone.

When I bought my X1 off a member on here (after it had had a full service) it had a mild steel bolt used as the pad retaining pin and one that was threaded all the way along its length which was interesting

That pin was a sod to get out when I replaced the pads on mine recently

Reassembled it with plenty of coppaslip as a precaution

It carries no load apart from the weight of the pads. You could use some dowel, varnished of course...

Saying that, the pin and cap is only about 4 notes from HD

Don wouldn't spend 50p with HD let alone 4 pounds! (and I don't blame him!)

A lot of Hon*a pins fit. I think the VTR ones are the same. Loads on Ebay, so there's no need for the MoFuCo to take a single penny off you 8-)
