I recently blew a hole in my XB9 stock muffler which was down to wear and rust over the past 3yrs and 20,000 miles.

I posted here to see if anyone had a spare they were willing to sell rather than going to the stealership and being charged in excess of 500 notes.

Pash came to the rescue with a muffler off an XB12, brand new, more than reasonably priced, I needed one quick so I went with it. The issue with this is that the 12 has a servo controlled valve which the 9 doesn’t. The obvious options to me were to either lock it open or shut depending on what I preferred after testing both ways.

Anyway, Pash came up with the idea of fitting the servo from an XB12 as well as the muffler, and offered to alter my EEPROM file to control the valve at wide open throttle.

Long story short, I now have an XB9 which has a muffler and a servo/valve system straight off of an XB12 and it works great!!

I'm more than happy with the results. Ok, I’m not claiming massive HP gain or anything but it does give a nice note when you pop the throttle in traffic, pulls away better at the lights and seems to be smoother through the rpm's :D

Just thought I'd share on the experience

Whats the setup now? Do you have the valve open all the time?

No, it opens when you give it some and then closes. Pash set it up to work at 'wide open throttle', I think this is the default setup you get on a 12
