Is there any reason why I can't put a set of Metzler roadtecs on the XB??

Happy with them on the Honda, I get plenty of miles out of them and I can at least tell when they're worn cos of the tread across the middle of the tyre.

I did do a search but no one seems to agree.........

I need something that's gonna cope with vast amounts of motorway miles........

Assuming they're available in the size you want then no. Tyres are a personal thing and if you're happy with the tyres then you'll be more confident and happier with the bike.

I have sportecs on the XB12R (now sold) and on my 1125R - seemed to wear quite well

Roadtec Z6 works fine with a XB, have them on both my XBs and several others do also. Never tested the Z6 Interact though.

Fit a set of Bridgestone 020's.
You will get good mileage out of them and they are grippy in the cold and wet.
You do pay more for them but I think there worth it.

Hi Purps! Looks like my tyre when I went to glastonbury. I had z6's on my fazer and liked them, but my f800 has michelin 2ct's (not sure of the exact model) and they are still ok after 3000 miles of mostly dual carriageway riding. They are the same size as the buell so thinking of giving them a try next once my rear diablo wears out or has another puncture. The z6's still squared off the same as the diablo does. That's why I want to try a dual compound tyre.

If you're happy with the tyres try them on the Buell............doesn't matter what others preferences are as everybody has their own views as to what is best .
Conti Road attacks are also a good choice and have had 5000 out of a rear on the X1 .
Like you say though tis easier to guage tyre wear if it has a tread pattern across the middle

If the Metzlers work for you and you are happy with them, then stick with them! Ignore those who say otherwise, you are familiar with the characteristics of these tyres, so stay with them.

I have Michelin Pilot Road 2CTs on mine, and I'm happy with them. 7,000 on the pair so far, but I'll be fitting a new rear before I go to France in July.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
