Leaving your tyre somewhere warm for an hour or two before fitting can be helpful too.
Works great in my part of Texas. Leaving them in the sun on the driveway for an hour. Might be a little more difficult for you guys over there.
posting.php?mode=quote&f=7&p=310934#Yeah more likely in the garage being warmed by a fan heater at this time of year ha ha.
Great practical idea though Adam, Totally forgot about warming the rubber. Still recovering from over stretching my chest & stomach muscles with the rear tyre ha ha.
If you've used that much force to fit the tyre, I'd be a little concerned about the integrity of the bead cord. I've seen one rupture at Olivers Mount after two big blokes forced a 'wet' on with very big tyre levers. Generally, only one lever is needed for the final nip over the rim. Tie wraps or specialist plastic blocks are very useful for keeping the bead opposite to where you're working, in the well.
Thanks Adam,
I think it was more about my own physical fitness & strength rather than anything else to be honest. Although I do have a problem with a leak on the rim which is a really annoying, I took it to a garage to blow the tyre onto the rim & heard the beads ping but can't get rid of this little leak. Don't know if I scratched the inner rim with a lever or something. I may have to put some goop in it to seal it.
My garage is also full of stuff from my Father In Laws house so really awkward to work in with limited space at the moment which doesn't help much.
