What a ride today! Over to whatever clay cross is called now and it was packed. Brit bike contest and there were some lovely old triumphs. Bacon sarnie and off to Bakewell and on to a cuppa at Matlock Bath and a look at the bikes. On to Grantham and on the A52 at Bingham in the outside lane of the dual carriageway I passed a woman on the phone with two young kids in the back only for her to pull out further on to overtake a car slowing for the light and not notice I too was braking to a stop in the outside lane for the lights. Heard a screech behind me and in that split second I thought this is it!. She managed to miss me by cutting up the car on the inside and going through the red light so close to me my bike swayed!.

Caught her a mile down the road at next light that she managed to stop at this time as there was a queue still on her phone. I sounded my horn and pointed at her phone and to her credit she immediately put the phone down and apologised profusely for coming within an inch of rear ending and killing me as she passed me at at least 50mph when I was stationary.

If you are still reading this you know that never happened!. When I caught her at the lights and pipped my horn and pointed at her phone, she put down her window and in her best chav, told me to "Fuck Off!!!". What do you do?

Anyway, on to Grantham then back home to Loughborough along the back roads and the bike didn't miss a beat and again was a joy to throw around.

Once again another 5 hour plus ride and not an ache or pain ....brilliant bike!

Guess it was that moment when I thought I could blow up at her and end up cutting my ride short due to being in a bad mood or ride away without having to speak to this low life so off I went ...

Did a few miles with mates on Sunday over to Market Harborough then on to Grafham Water for a coffee, back over to Market Harborough where we all decided it was too nice to ride home as planned so off to Grantham via Waltham before heading home 9 hours and 3 tanks of petrol later.

Bike ran like a dream again though my pals take the piss that they are always looking for bits falling off as its a Buell. Well it didn't dissapoint!, got back and having adjusted my inside bar end mirror while riding, sodding thing was gone when I got back as I had not got around to adding a dab of Loctite.

Nice having a bike that you can just stay out on in comfort even when you have thrown it around all day...

Thanks again to Dave who sold me the bits as he threw in some new bolts? and exhaust flanges amongst other things. Works out those bolts are for fitting the stock exhaust which will be needed for my new purchase.

Bought the flanges with exhaust as I'd forgot about the bits Dave gave me and drove back thinking I would have to order the bolts until I checked his box of bits and got a pleasant surprise!.

Stock exhaust look but with lowers and front replaced with stainless steel and baffles re worked for a fruitier sound but nothing like as loud as the FMF Apex. Good news as I missed out on another track day yesterday as it was 102db day and I would of had no chance.

I like the look of the stock exhaust with the factory lowers as they were intended ...

Thought the wheels could do with a bit of colour so continuing with the red theme, rim tape on and just the steering damper to be fitted to complete my red highlights.

Hang on, I meant last ride of the year where we all got together as a group. I will be riding with a couple of pals whenever it's dry ...with my new rim tape

OK then, we'll almost let you off, but you need a scruffy bike as well, for riding in shit weather.

Oh, and what's rim tape I thought it was for protecting inner tubes on spoked wheels
