I didn't need to mate, with the feed in tarriff and the saving in electric, which is well over half the useage, it will just pay for itself.

Give you an idea, 20 years of FIT which is guaranteed as long as the building is standing and the savings over the same period equals £290K, it was a bit of a no brainer.

Bit of free time today either side of latte and toasted tea cakes with Daywalker, so I made myself a tool to pull the damper rod up through the spring when reassembling forks (especially the Honda).

Started off with some 8mm and 14mm dis EN1A bar off eBay.

Cut the 8mm in two, rounded the ends of one (the handle) with my Repton ball turning tool, drilled a 3mm hole radially at half span with a counterbore for an M3 Allen screw.

Took the other bit, drilled and tapped an M3 thread, put the radius in to mate with the handle, cut an M8 thread on the end.

Took the 14mm bar, took a bit 30mm long, drilled and tapped each end M8 x 1.25 and M10 x 1 (Showa damper rod thread) then put some flats on to give 11mm AF for a spanner (the lock but will be 12 or 13 so it means I only need on of each spanner).

Screwed it all together (maybe I'll get the handle TIGed at work)

Cool, I like it, you don't need your repton ball turning thingy for that, more practice and you'll be able to do that free hand, must admit though, they are mesmerising.

fork rebuilding on the S1 was so easy,,,thank you Mr White Power,,,,for putting a peg hole in the damper rods,,,,insert peg ,,,screw spring down on the peg,,,,piss easy,,,for upside downers,

I stopped in at The Devon Rim Company on my way home from Ilfracombe today, to pick up my 21" stainless front hoop and spokes, which I will be lacing to mt Suzuki GT250 disc hub. The original was 18", so they had to make longer spokes for me.
These rims are made from flat sheet, in house and proudly stamped, "Made In England".
I picked up the T140 rear rim and spokes a couple of weeks ago, so now all I have to do is finish off my truing jig, polish the hubs and make a start............

Another work trip to Ifracombe allowed me to stop by Devon Rim and sort out a 21" 36 hole rim and spokes to suit my GT250 disc hub. I now have everything I need to build the wheels.
I made my truing jig on Saturday, so now I just have to polish the hubs and make a start.
I've taken lots of photos and measurements.....

This is for my 1949 Speed Twin special. The front wheel is Suzuki, the rear T140. Needless to say, it's never been original.
This is my first attempt at lacing a rim, so I may balls it up as well.............. ;)

I was only a kid when I tried, there was an old boy in town who had an almost pitch black, dimly lit, dump of a shop who used to straighten what we had ballsed for next to nothing, his name escapes me but he was ace at trueing a wheel, he was about 90 then so he won't be getting anyone out of the shit now :( he was a character.
