Did you get lost or something.....

:hehe:

CJ-Nav worked remarkably well, with only one malfunction which meant an extra 15 miles on that particular days riding.

Thanks for all your kind comments, they're much appreciated.

Tony - thanks for your donation.

We'll post details about the rest of the trip in due course but as reaching the Arctic Circle was the fund-raising part of the journey we wanted to post these first.

We would like to thank Timo (JinX) for riding over from Finland on his XB12S Lightning to join us for a couple days. It made all the difference to have another Buell there.

Saturday 21st May 2011.
Arctic Circle visitor centre, Saltfjellet Plateau, Norway.
Latitude: 66 degrees, 33 minutes.
Altitude: 680 metres / 2,244 feet.
Mileage so far: 1,670 miles.

We'd hoped for some snow at the Arctic Circle and weren't disappointed. The temperature at the visitor centre was minus 0.5 degrees centigrade with a cold, blustery wind and sleety rain. The staff at the centre said we were the first motorcyclists to visit them this year. This fact, combined with the snowy conditions, helped to give us a great sense of achievement and all three of us were buzzing.

The ride across the Saltfjellet Plateau was something else with snow all around us. Thankfully highway E6 had been heavily gritted and was clear. I would have loved to stop and take more pictures of this wilderness but being a wimp there was no way I was stopping and letting go of those heated grips :D.....

Mission accomplished - Timo and Jane with the Buells and our banner:

Jane and 'Barney', her beloved Moto Guzzi 750. Jane is the only female rider to successfully complete all three UKBEG Buell Challenges and together they make an unstoppable team :4roz: :worthy:....

We expected snow, but not quite this deep.....

After the obligatory pictures had been taken we retired to the warm and cosy restaurant for lunch....

It will be a few weeks before we know exactly how much this years UKBEG Buell Challenge has raised for Em's Charity but it will be in excess of £1,000.

Em's Charity donation web page can be found @ http://www.bmycharity.com/ukbeg

Broken belt only 9 miles from the Kristiansand ferry ... after 1900 miles of wonderous roads and views

Trouble is that there are no replacement belts here

Waiting for one to come from UK .... So far it took nearly 21 hours just to leave the UK

Ferry from Denmark only runs every 2 days - already missed one and likely to miss the next one at this rate.

Sad end to a good trip

Bad luck mate ..............my X1 belt broke 1/2 a mile after i got home from the UKBeg JoGLe trip a couple of years back did 1850 miles then it broke on my mates drive back here in Louth lOl ...that's what I call lucky lOl
This is the reason I take a spare belt on Long trips on both the X1 and the CR ....tis the difference between being able to continue on holiday or not.......... there'll always be somewhere with tools and paddock stand that you can use to fit it but as you've found not always a belt available.................carry a spare carefully coiled up in your luggage folks ;)

Today we finally collected all the sponsorship money owed to us and it comes to a rather pleasing £946 :P...

I raised £255 and Jane :4roz: raised £691.

We will send the sponsor forms and cheques to Papworth Hospital next week. After they've claimed Gift Aid we estimate that the 2011 UKBEG Buell Challenge will have raised something in the region of £1125 to £1150 for Em's Charity.

Once we have the exact amount from Papworth I will update the totals shown within Em's Charity topic
