West is best, or it was today. We had a very wet and overcast ride this morning but at least the weather improved as we approached the South Lakes peninsula. In that part of Cumbria it was mostly clear skies and lovely sunshine, although the roads were still wet.
We can't thank you guys enough for turning up
, it was a very pleasant surprise. There were 4 Buells at Haverthwaite station - all classic XB models.
The 'Meet Thomas' day was in full swing when we arrived and I must admit it was a very impressive set-up. All the main engine and vehicle characters were there, including a very convincing Fat Controller. I can see why it's so popular with children.
I digress, this is supposed to be a Buell meet write-up. After lunch (my Cumberland sausage sandwich
went down a treat) we had a tour around the back roads of the peninsula through Cark and Grange-over-Sands, down to Devils Bridge. Because of the wet conditions it wasn't very busy at Devils Bridge and there was plenty of room to park. We managed a pretty neat display with our 4 Buells, they certainly created a lot of interest. 'Arge' turned up on his X1 before we left so that made it 5 UKBEG Buells in total.
All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon spent with fellow Buell enthusiasts.
