:( :( What's gone wrong Dave ?

We popped over to East Kirkby this afternoon to meet up with Flossy and Martin at the campsite next door. Another test run of the Uly which is now the bike of choice for our Europe trip :D the BMW can stay behind lol

Dave, very sorry to read about your misfortune but glad you're OK.

On a more positive note, the sun's shining here and we're just about to have a yummy breakfast at the Red Lion :eat: ......

Alan, we hope you've managed to sort something out.

There were approx. 200 motorcycles at today's event, which included 37 Buells and 1 EBR. Thank you so much to everyone for attending and helping to raise £366 for Em's Charity.

Top work CJ JJ and that's for the organisation and dedication. I should say that I enjoyed the day immensely meeting new people and chatting like ten men. :worthy: :worthy:

As the others have said it was another great day and good to see everybody old and new , day started with Simon delivering my Sebring exhaust for the Uly just after 8-30am and then after a quick cuppa we all met up with Duty Druid at the local petrol station, so left Louth with a Tuber an XB and an 1125 and had a 24mile ride over the wolds on some great roads to Ems day 8-)
Counted 37 Buells in and sorry to hear that the two prototype Deisel powered ones didn't quite make it.
Hope all got home safely and looking forward to the next chance to meet up 8-)

CJ,

Sorry I couldn't make it but glad it was a success.

I stopped for petrol just before joining the M25, then it wouldn't start. Starter motor would go clunk but not spin the engine. Battery defunct.

AA man arrives, jump starts it, then I follow him into Guildford to buy a new battery. On the way (trundling behind him at 25mph rather than 70ish if I'd joined the motorway) the exhaust can cracks - splits in two.

Evidentally, it had spat the front mounting bolt some time before and I hadn't noticed. Can had been hanging on rear mounting and downpipe clamp, and the extra vibration killed it.

After fitting the battery, we had a look at what could be done with the exhaust and noticed that one of the oil lines had been badly routed and was chafing quite badly - so badly that, from the look of it, it could have worn through pretty soon.

An oil line splitting at motorway speeds and dumping oil in front of the rear tyre does not bear thinking about!

So, with an exahust in more pieces that it was supposed to be and the prospect of having to do replace an oil line (with all that that entials) before the bike could really be ridden anywhere, I threw in the towel.

On a more positive note, I guess I'll just have to get that Albert exhaust that I've been planning for a while and never quite getting around to!

Dave

Great turn out CJ. Can you remind us of the stats from previous years?

From what I saw, X1s seemed to be dominant...

Great to see everyone again, even better to make it home this year under our own automotive power. Sweety liked the ride out too. Sunshine! Never saw any all day until back in West Yorks.

What a fab day if a little overcast. It was so good to see folk and meet some of the new faces. I did have to retrain myself from licking Simon's S2, it was sooooo pretty. Thanks again CJ and JJ for putting all your effort into this and making it what it is :worthy: :worthy: .

In the 'good old days' we used to average 60/70 Buells at Em's Day with the record being 105. Given that quite a few people no longer own Buells, I guess today's figure isn't too bad.

The great thing about today's event was the varied selection of motorcycles present. It was great to see and hear so many 'sporting' V twins, mostly British, American and Italian. That's what helps to give Em's Day such a unique flavour.

One things for certain, we'll keep on doing Em's Day :yup: ......
