Advance passenger information Jill, apparently the UK government has tightened up on people leaving and coming into the UK so it is extra checks they do on your identity etc, when I booked the chunnel we were given the option of giving all that info now ( passport numbers , dates of birth, nationality etc ) or having to do it when you check in. Says they have to pass it all on to the UK Border force and the Government.

A bit more info.

The UK government have introduced Exit Checks at all ports and airports from 1st April 2015. This requires Eurotunnel Le Shuttle to gather information on the identity of every person leaving the country, at their point of departure, and pass this information to UK Border Force.

In order to comply with this new legislation, you will need to provide us with your passport or identity card details in advance of your travel to the Continent to speed up your journey through our Folkestone terminal.

You can enter your API information online, using the booking reference number (12 31 10 72) and booking password sent to you in your booking confirmation email.

Enter your API today

The information we will require from you and each of your passengers travelling will be:

• Name
• Surname
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Nationality
• Document type
• Document number
• Issuing state
• Expiry date

Visit our website for more information about API.

If you are unable to enter your API data online, you can also provide it over the phone by calling our Contact Centre on 0330 1233207 where one of our team will take your travel information for you.

Your API will then be passed securely to UK Border Force and will be deleted from our system within 7 days of your date of travel.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Yours sincerely,

Exactly the same as getting on a RyanAir flight, except they've been doing it for as long as I can remember.

The UK doesn't normally do exit checks though, the people that normally check passports on the way out are the French. Maybe we will get checked twice now ;)

Was going to see Foo Fighters but now canceled so can come again but not sure if I can get on Chunnel. Does anybody have a ticket they want rid because they can't go. Or let me know what time are the crossing your all taking. Can I book this late?

8-) great news Nick 8-) bikes can normally get squeezed on different trains to what you book anyway mate , I think the majority are mid Saturday morning out and early sun afternoon back , myself and Ronnie are going to France Friday and meeting up with others at Cassel sat lunchtime, the twinpower guys are meeting us there for the ride in as they did last year, leaving Cassel at 1pm I believe.

The booking must be in your name, you must in addition fill out the online form as detailed by Kev above. I would check the less popular crossing times, failing that the ferries are never full foe bikes.
Would be good to see you mate. :yup:

Odd that you don't have to provide API information on the ferry. I phoned them and asked because I have to take the car again this year. Having said that the crossing only takes 90 minutes and cost £32 for the return trip.

I might even have space for the banjo :uhoh:
