Hope to see you on the 6th :yup: ....

UKBEG's very own Team Ulysses (with guest Guzzi) have arrived safely at our respective digs after visiting the Assen circuit this afternoon to buy our weekend passes. A very reasonable 12.50 Euro per person for the whole weekend so cheap as chips :P ......

There's an EBR 1190RX entered in the Twin Cup race so we'll be cheering him on.

Kev & Ronnie are enjoying their Ulysses and say they should have bought one ages ago.

After a damp start to the day we had a great afternoon yesterday at Assen in the sunshine :sun:.....

Lots of V-twin loveliness wherever you looked. We managed to find the EBR 1190RX, which is being ridden by Dutch rider Bertus Folkertsma, but unfortunately he wasn't around to talk to. Maybe we'll catch him today, he's racing at 3.00pm.

We met up with EBR rider Bertus Folkertsma this morning and managed to have a good chat with him. Unfortunately the mixed weather today played havoc with the race schedule and instead of the Twin Cup race getting underway at 3.00pm in the dry, it started at 4.00pm just before the drizzle arrived :( ...

This was a real shame because Bertus had qualified in fourth and he was second into the first corner as the race began. Shortly after that the track became too wet for those on slicks and a third of the field had to retire due to the dangerous conditions. It was a bit of an anti-climax but I guess that's racing for you. There was some good race action in the other classes so the day wasn't entirely ruined.

We proudly flew the Buell flag in a sea of Italian motorcycles and the Bertus Folkertsma Fan Club (British Section) met their hero.

UKBEG's Team Ulysses visited Twin Motorcycles in IJsselstein today, it was good to meet Dris and Martin again. Walter (Dewalt) was also there :D....

They have a great set up at Twin Motorcycles and are determined to keep Buell motorcycles on the road.

Following that visit we stopped in Amsterdam for a coffee and sticky buns :eat:...

Another cracking day in the Netherlands :P ......

We're sure making the most of our time here, we'll have covered most of the country by the time we've finished. Today's visits included the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek near Arnhem and Teo Lamers in Nijmegen.

Another great day visiting the Airborne museum and Teo Lamers where myself and Ronnie were given a full guided tour , they have some amazing bikes in there guzzi museum upstairs , i must say though that traffic in Holland is horrendous near the cities and certainly not something i could live with every day, it's a good job that thousands do use bikes because they would be totally fucked if they didn't.,

We visited the Laverda museum in Lisse today. What an amazing place, the result of 25 years dedicated work by Cor Dees, the owner. Clearly a talented engineer and a man with a passion for these Italian lovelies :P....

The V6 is a thing of beauty and with just a little more work on setting the carbs up it'll be up and running. Cor, left in picture, hopes to bring the V6 over to the UK for the Stafford show in October.

Today was well worth the 290 miles we did , should have been less but we took a couple of alternative routes until we stopped and rebooted CJ's map lOl the museum had some fantastic bikes and Cor was telling us how the V6 when he got it had no gearbox internals so he made them all himself from the original drawings that he now owns , he his also building a 3rd V6 starting with a spare bare set of castings he got from the factory :-)

Home safe from our 1502.8 mile Netherlands adventure :D Big thanks to CJ and Jane for organising things 8-) the Uly proved to be the ideal bike for two up touring and never missed a beat all week and the fuel consumption was amazing the best being 71.5 miles on just 4.53 litres of fuel most of which was cruising at 70 MPH two up with half luggage 8-)

We also did around 1500 miles, strange that :D …….

Thanks to Kev and Ronnie for sharing the week with us, it was great to have them along for the trip and apart from a blown headlight bulb on our Ulysses, both Buells and Jane’s new Guzzi V7 ran faultlessly.

I can confirm that the Netherlands is mostly flat; in fact the only hilly bits are bridges over roads, canals and rivers. Still, you don’t go to the Netherlands for Alpine style motorcycling adventures, you go for the beautiful countryside and away from the big cities, a calmer more relaxed lifestyle. Everyone was so helpful and pleasant. We could quite easily live in the area around Gorredijk where we rented the farmhouse. If you’re ever in the area or attending an event at Assen we can highly recommend Blier Herne as a place to stay, their web site: here. Free fresh eggs everyday is an added bonus and they let you park your motorcycles in their barn.

Yesterday’s informal Buell meet at Café Olie B in Zoelen worked a treat. I chose the location from an internet search and it was just perfect, set in a picturesque village. There were 8 Buells in total and we met some Dutch friends we’d not seen for years. In fact many of the Dutch people hadn’t met each other before and they commented that it seemed strange that an Englishman had brought Buell enthusiasts together in their country. Kev put some pictures up on Facebook yesterday but for forum only users here’s a few of yesterday’s meet….

Cor Dees has confirmed that he's bringing the Laverda V6 to the Stafford Show 17th/18th October. We intend to visit the show on Saturday 17th. Show web site: here
