Chatting to a colleague at work yesterday, who hails from Cleremont-Ferand. He recommends travelling from PR circuit to Millau via the Plateau Des 1000 Vaches.

I have already penned in my two service days for the Monday & Tuesday prior :yup:

We've started looking at costs for ferry / train down to the circuit, plus our route back. Will bring details along to southern meet in couple of weeks

Starting to look seriously at this too. Looks like we may be imposing ourselves on the lovely Ricketts clan pre and post trip.

My intention was to look at ferries etc when I get back onshore after this trip and start thinking about routes etc - once I have done the post festive season housework! I am pleased to take your advice though HoneyBea!

A rough thought, is - two days to get from the South coast to the circuit, via Route 66 hotel and the Millau Bridge. The weekend camping at the circuit, then the long road back with Blackrag and HoneyBea - not sure whether that will be camping, or hotels/B&B's? Ending the trip with a Southern Softies meet before the trek back to the frozen North!

Well excited!!!

We have looked at the best way for us so far, That is both cost efficient and energy saving on the body as knees and hips dodgy lol, at the moment it is...ferry to Caen....then Paris, possibly spend eve or a night with Raingod, take bikes to Bercy station in Paris, they go overnight to Frejius (cost 89-141 euro per bike, dependent how far in front booking 6months, best price) camping at track, leave track on Monday early, to Monaco 185km, one night, then to Turin about 3 hours 265km (scenic route) one night, then to Geneva 3 hours 250km, one night poss 2, then onto Stuttgart 3 hours 211km one night, then onto Luxemburg city 3.5 hours 310km one night, onto Mons 231km 2.5 hours, one night, then Mons to Calais via Andekirke (fag run lol) 230km 3 hours in shopping...train to Ashford.....then home, although it means getting a separate train to the bikes, the questions we have asked and reviews on the motorail are good, and its cheaper than the fuel to get down, possibly get sleeper train down so refreshed for the journey from South of france home. 11 days away roughly and 14-1500 miles....any ideas peps

I was really keen to do the Motorail down Ray, but I read online that they no longer run it :?:

I think you're right, French motorail is no more, but if you google autotrain, you'll find (I think) much the same, but not such handy routes (no Calais start) and you have to travel on a different train yourself, but it still works at some level.

Yep tis a little fragmented, pick train up in Paris, they travel overnight, passenger train is 10 mins away, and can be worked to meet bike at the other end, still works out slightly cheaper than the fuel costs, and you can rest... the return journey is about 1400 miles but at a steady ride rate, for my poor old bones lol, as I have been told that by the start of 2017 I will be 40+% titanium below the waist, when all the info has been collected, I will put it up and message you Mags, so far it appears very appealing :coat:  :old:
