The events of the last few days in this topic have left a very bitter taste. We feel we’ve been treated in an unfair and shabby manner. We’re not above criticism, whether justified or not, but there’s a fair and correct way to do it. To have those comments made about us in public and then deleted to be replaced by a smiley face as though nothing happened, is totally unacceptable.

Thank you to those that have sent PM's expressing concern and support.

Back to Em’s Day 2017, only 90 sleeps to go :P …..

The LAHC have confirmed that these aircraft are scheduled to perform flying displays at Em's Day:

Avro Lancaster
Hurricane
Spitfire
P51 Mustang
B17 Flying Fortress

That's great news, we look forwards to meeting both of you :worthy:....

Or, as we say in Yorkshire, Dat is geweldig nieuws, we kijken vooruit te voldoen aan jullie beiden :worthy:....

I hope that's the correct translation and it doesn't mean 'can you please direct me to the railway station'.

Hi Chris,

Don't think we have ever spoken but you've asked for an opinion so if you don't mind I'll give one.

I've done a few of these, not quite the same subject matters but worthy causes and needing recognition, I've never included myself or my company as the sponsor because I've never felt it was about us and I have to say I feel it detracts from the message when I see sponsorship on them.
Just a personal feeling and I'm sorry you feel any insult from comments that have been made as its a fine thing you have achieved.

Regards

Andy

Andy, thanks for your feedback. It is appreciated and we're not insulted.

We contacted the Aviation Centre on Saturday lunchtime to ask them to put the plaque on hold. Luckily we have time on our side. We have a few ideas which we're going to discuss with Don and we'll report back.

This was a good idea, badly executed. We made an error of judgement for which we apologise.

I don't think you have anything to apologise for at all.

There's clearly differing opinions on this matter but out of respect to Don and his family (and Emma's memory) we would like to ask everyone not to turn this into a public argument, especially on this topic.

Thank you.

We’ve agreed with Don to have a new plaque made that shows this inscription:

HONOURING THE MEMORY OF MY GRANDFATHER AND HIS CREW, MAY 2017, DON CHISHOLM.

The original plaque will be sent to Don as a private donation for his home.

However well-intentioned our original plaque was, it was inappropriate to say it was donated by us on behalf of UKBEG. This was a genuine error for which we’ve apologised.

We have received an apology for the way we were criticised in public weekend 25th/26th February.
