I've been having a look round the forum for some time now and at last here I am !

I'm what you might call a mature rider (if you were being kind) - and only passed my test 7 years ago at the age of 51 (now I've given it away), but since then (and from being a youngster really) have got the bike bug. My current "stable" includes 3 sports bikes and .......

I fell in love with the XB at the NEC show last November where thay had an XB9SX displayed on a stand at about 45 degrees - it looked awesome but sitting on it was forbidden (and not very practical at that angle).

So seven months on and after a test ride of the 9 and the 12, on 1st June I collected my XB12Scg - Hero Blue (not sure about that name but it looks the dogs). I'm 5' 8" ish but would have bought the XB12Ss had it been the same geometry but didn't like the thought of the longer (albeit slight) wheelbase.

First impressions - keeping it below 4000 - what a hoot. I've never owned (nor ridden) an unfaired bike but this is gonna be my number 1 and because of wind blast should keep my out of serious trouble with Mr Plod. Can't believe how quick it turns in and how manoeuvrable it is. Definitely need to be careful because when I had the test ride, I hit the limiter 5 times in the first few miles (where on here is that discussion about buying a Demo !!). Roll on 500 miles. :)

So, the manual is read, suspension tweaks this afternoon (to manufacturers recommendations for my weight) and get riding.

Small plate and "Buell Logo'd" dust cover ordered - rear paddock stand next on the list.

I'm sure I'm going to be "asking" rather than contributing so thanks in advance.

Promise not to be so long winded in future posts ! ;)

And? Natural environment for some of us! ;)

Not me, obviously, for reasons which may be obvious from that second pic. (I look more comfortable than Digger at that angle, although I have no idea why! )

As I recall, it was because the "photographer" kept me holding the pose for 10 mins before taking the shot..... ;)
