Always ride like you expect the village idiot to pull out on you at the next junction, that way you will be prepared for almost all situations. I hope you have eyes in the back of your head??

Ride safe. Good luck.

Thanks for any & all advice!

I just took my CBT this morning & got my certificate! So I'll be practising on my own bike over the next few weeks.

We don't have Direct Access here, we have a slightly more difficult bike test, but without the falling-off emergency stop & swerve. Once the test has been passed, we can ride any size bike, but go onto R plates for 1 year & are restricted to 50mph for that 1 year period.

The training guy said that I should spend some time to get used to riding & then he estimated about 6 lessons should get me ready for the test.

Thanks. My wife has an initial 1 hour noob training session on Tuesday, so we went to a local industrial estate car park to give her some practise. She was nervous, but did ok & was eventually able to ride a distance & stop fairly smoothly without too much wobble. She did however manage to drop the bike at one point (let go of the clutch) & we've got a bent clutch lever & left footpeg. I had to ride it home like that. :|

Which means no practise for a few days.
