I have joined the throng as i am having irresistible urges to add a Ulysses to my collection

I booked test ride yesterday but got call from the (nameless !!) Buell dealer to tell me they couldn't start the Demo used Uly !!! :( I did go anyway & tried the Lightning and Whoaaa thats a FUN package !! Reminded me of riding a 500 physically 8-) Unf my knackered joints couldn't take THAT MUCH fun for long but i enjoyed the blast no end. Made my Trident 900 feel like i was tring to list the Forth Road Bridge & tip it on it's side !

NOw... ive been told Buell's take a "minute or two" to warm up ? The Lightning was still coughing & spluttering for a good 10 mins - is this normal ? Knowing the dealer couldn't get the Uly fired up i wondered just how well this bike was set up !! It reminded me of the MT01 i tried a year back... it get's a similair badge from me MEAT GRINDER ON STEROID'S ;)

Was also very lumpy under 2k but i guess this normal ? are there any tuning mods to smooth the low rev range out (i am looking for something that will have to be an "all rounder", yestersday's test got me wonderin if i have to keep somethin else for "local pottering"

Any advice/ input welcome... i just know i'm gonna do it !

If i shld have posted all my ramblings somewhere else pls let me off - i am a begginer (thats what ALL the women who have left me have said  )

Living on Bucks/ Oxon border would welcome chance to chat over a pint with any local Uly owners (I live in High Wycombe Bucks)

Come on Guy's N Gal's CONVINCE ME i will be happy with one !!

Oh i forgot - i need the Dentist as half my fillings are somewhere on the road to Henley on Thames cos i had to slow down thru a village

It wasnt that the startin was a major prob, just had to keep blippin it for a good while as i was moving thru town, one out on the open blastin it didnt give probs again (initially i thought Boll#x - this EFI was designed by the same twat that did it for my Guzzi Centauro !!) I may try / see if i can find a seller willing to let me test before i but N see a comparison. My local dealer still be workin on the Demo bike i expect.

bit like ladies ? Oh Christ  Actually its havin been away from em for a long while that's funding the new purchase

My main prob is physically knackered - heres a lesson ALL... use that Condom !! (REALLY thats how i got the probs which started some 20 yrs ago, Specialists said either Sexually Transmitted or From Food Poisoning, i hadnt had a Curry for a while at the time & after starting to scream in the same pitch as Kate Bush everytime i pee'd i discovered the Girlfriend was like a Moped - EVERYONE IN TOWN HAD ENJOYED RIDING HER BUT NONE WERE OWNING UP TO IT ) Still love than analagy :)

Too much information ? Whoop's sorry Guy's & Gal's but it sure makes you think more seriously !!.

So, hence my reason for considering a Ulysses !! I have a few bikes and among them the Transalp i bought last year (yes yes Ok get the P##s Takin out of the way now please !!) is the right kinda position but way too underpowered for any motorway work (in my book anyway) Have not had anything under 900cc in past 28 yrs & just cannot "make do"

Keep em comin guys ! Maybe i should start a thread/ continue my ramblings elsewhere now ?

Essentially interested in what can be done to improve Uly in the runnin dept - that's IF its gonna be like the Lightning - but hopefully a bit sweeter low down ?

Cheers all, guess most sensible ones are out ridin today but i got job's i just have to do today :(

It IS like the Lightning, I borrowed one last time I had my Lightning serviced. In fact, if I was a couple of inches taller in the leg department (and if the HD shop would've touched a 2nd hand Buell with a barge pole) I'd have part ex'd it there and then :P

(Gawd knows how Digger does it :? )

Welcome oldgiff
heres a test ride report thats just been posted on here
http://enlazandoamerica.com.ar/ing/rtecnicoing.htm :D
Have a look at the Buell Performance academy Experience events.......
http://www.buellperformanceacademy.co.u ... Category=2
Where you can try every model in their range playing on track/off road and on road. Well worth the money and a great introduction to what these bikes can do and seriously great fun. I'm not on commission by the way
Be careful what dealer you use,........ bit suspicious of one that can't start it's demo and has a rough running alternative.

There were a few Buells in Henley yesterday, then. We went through around 2pm, back again a few hours later.

If Thames Valley can't sort a decent demo, head to Newmarket to try one of Black Bear's. The taller bikes (X, XT or an '07 STT) do feel different to the mini bikes, IMO, and probably a lot better suited to your requirements.

Get a go on one, you'll love it.

At this exact time of nite a Blonde with Big Kernockers wld probably be better suited to my requirements actually but spose i'll have to sit here & keep trawlin BEG as theres more chance of someone knocking my door & sayin "i hear you want a Ulysses, here have mine for free with my compliments" :headbang:

I knew a girl called Polo once. Took me years to figure out how she got that nickname.

Although I don't understand it myself, it was something about making a mint out of her hole.
