Sold my last bike a few years ago and have regretted it ever since. Pretty sure that I have got past the need for a howling Japanese 4 cylinder.

The only bike that I ever really lusted after was the Britten V1000 (see below). It’s good to dream :(

I reckon that a XB12R would fill the void. I’m 6’1 and not that competent at spanner twirling. What do you reckon.

The plan is to pick one up later in the year and get it properly serviced ready for next year.

Now to tell Mrs Blighty.

Welcome and good luck with the search. Hope you're flexible, at that height have you considered a Buell with a longer frame, e.g. XB12SS, 1125R or EBR1190?

There are two camps tubbers ( early tube framed models ) and fuellers (later fuel in alloy frame models) both have their good and bad points , have a look in the events and rides section for a local event, then you can go and see , sit upon and ask question of the owners  . as for the spanner twirling , the resident master is maz :maz: , many many years of servicing and rebuilding Buell’s
As for telling Mrs Blighty of your plans :couch:

Thanks for the replies. With half breed kids I appreciate that as a jock you’ve all been busy for the last hour or so. Last bike was a zx9c1 so no problem with tucking myself in. Live in Cheshire so I know that there is a specialist in Manchester who can help. Just need to get my head around the day to day ownership of a Buell.

PS gutted for you :(

You should pop into my shop for a brew and education before making a decision and parting with your hard earned

A couple hours of your time spent going to see Maz , could save you thousands of pounds and lots of heartache . and stop you ( educate you ) from buying the wrong bike or even the right bike but without all the recall safety mods done

Quick couple of questions - handlebar width of a Ulysses including hand guards? Matters due to acces down the side of my house. Also, assuming that one of these was completely as it was when it left the factory, how much would you put aside to make reliable? What Mod’s would be essential rather than ‘nice to have’?
