Current ride: M2 Cyclone
Hi.

After years of Japanese sportsbikes I fancied a simple 'standard' motorcycle.

While looking at an early 80s GSX1100, I ran across a Buell - I'd seen them before, but not paid
much attention - being more interested in GSX-Rs and the like at the time.

The Cyclone seemed exactly what I wanted - a basic motorcycle, with form-follows-function
styling and enough power and handling to keep things interesting.

So I bought this with 3900 miles on it and have added another 2500 miles in the two and
a half months that I've owned it.

Also in that time, the stupid-loud V&H silencer broke its brackets, taking out an exhaust stud.
It has since been replaced with a stock silencer that doesn't require me to wear earplugs.

Looks a great bike, as Rik says take a look at the other M2 thread for other info. I think your bike should already have the later upgraded front exhaust hanger, if not I recommend an upgrade to it. The V&H can be repacked, it' s worth it in my opinion as it is one of the better Buell silencers.

Interesting info in there, particularly the front engine mount and oil-pump drive, so I've been doing some reading....

I found this billet engine mount on eBay, any opinions ?

The oil-pump drive doesn't look a particularly difficult DIY job, but the pinion-gear locking tools I found seem to be quite expensive. Is it possible to undo the pinion nut without one ?

Nothing to do with me, honest !
(Actually, I think it's paint or tar rather than oil).

Yes, it's a 2001 so has the upgraded bits including the exhaust hanger.
I'll look into sorting the V&H - it looks a lot nicer than the stock one, so long as I can
quieten it down a bit.
