Ok Thanks all for the welcome, banter etc..

Re the CEL, took the air cleaner apart last night and found a load of oil, cleaned everything and reassembled, I assume as I don't have a manual the air temp sensor sits next to the breather outlets.

Next job will be reroute breathers.

Let it idle for 10 mins and the fan kicked in, rode it for 10 mins parked and the fan kicked in. so the fan works.

Noticed this morning while going from lock to lock that at full right lock there is a point where the display blinks off and the needles drop.

Rode to work, parked, fan kicked in.

Electrics not my strong suit but I think this could be the next step.

I think that the wiring around the headstock on Ulys is a weak point! :old: Never had one but seem to recall a few posts about this..

Yep suspicions confirmed; lock to lock clears the CEL.

Happy days, now all I have to do is find the right wires...

remove the barrel and have a look at the wires going into the base, mine broke about 1/2 inch from the base, most helpful in the middle of the M3 j6 road works!!! :headbang:

Talking to Bob Tile at Soton HD, he told me Tubbs and Angie had moved to the States to spend time with Tubbs Dad. I hope Tubbs does come back as he is one of the few people I trust with my S1W.
