Hi all, I have just joined this group after coming across it on face book, looking foreward to chatting to other Buell owners and tapping into technical help etc.
My steed is a 2001 M2 in black, have fitted a Mikuni flatslide carb and a HP exhaust which is about 1/4 the vweight of the oe kit, when I purchased it in 2004 I think it was it had just over 1000 miles on the clock so not run in. llllllllllately I have fitted the earlier gear shift ass as the oe one has the wrong leverage ratio's and the replacement makes life far easier,would like a alloy oiltank at some stage as well ,

Welcome , great choice of bike. I don't consider my engine was run in till at least 10,000 miles, just kept getting better. You still have fun to come. Been on the hunt for a alloy oil tank for a while now, good luck.

Well thanks for the welcome, very much appreciated and have managed to track down a alloy oil tank which apart from the aesthetic value will dispense with the plastic pressure cooker and help with cooling,did contemplate a oil cooler but I have not seen one I like.
Does anyone out there have any experience of a single fire ignition system? I have been told it really smooths out the running and if it was worthwhile that is my next mod, any info greatly appreciated.
ps re the name, it was foisted on me by the daughter many moons ago as being easy to remember and I need all the help I can get in that department, I put it down to my youth as in the village where I grew up they used to throw bricks at the local idiot, did'nt half hurt.

I fitted a 'Crane' Fire-Ball Hi-4 to my '98 M2, but not for the reasons you cite... I had fitted a 'Stack' tacho that didn't like the spacing of the HD firing pulses (bang-bang-space-space-...) and it got very confused, sometimes showing half revs, sometimes correct revs. The single fire has cured that and also gives me a lot of programmable options as well... including rev limit, dual/single fire modes, single/multi spark modes, a choice of pre-set advance curves and a PC interface for adding your own custom curves.
It's a very neat installation as it does away with the standard ignition unit under the seat, all the electronics are sited inside the timing cover and it obviously uses a different coil, this does mean a fair bit of rewiring is required, so it's not a five minute job.
I don't know how much the set-up costs new but they do come up on the 'bay now and again, that's where I found mine.
