Hi all,

I have had an itch for a Buell for ages and now have finally taken the plunge and bought a 1999 X1 from Weatherleys.

Funny thing is, I just can't stop grinning despite a few teething problems.

Looking forward to picking your brains in the near future.

Good work. Be interested to know what they did with the brake disc after I left.....

What other 'teething' problems have you got?

Only the burgundy S1 left now. Except the fact that mine is going back to be remedied.

So what's wrong with it? And are they going to fix it right?

Hi Pash,

1. The rear shock has lost all damping oil.
2. The engine had a misfire in higher gears above 5000rpm. Obviously not discovered on a test ride.
3. After riding 60 miles the clutch now wont let me engage neutral with the engine running.
4. The air box worked loose, the mechanic at weatherleys was late home so that he could ensure that it didn't fall off. This revealed loads of silicon and oil, which was coming from the rocker engine breathers which had been sealed with o-rings instead of copper washers.
5. I thought that now the air box was functioning correctly it would cure the misfire. It hasn't and now the bike runs like a pig, missing all over the place

I am speaking with Weatherleys on tuesday as they are still in America.

I am sure you will get it all sorted, either by them or by yourself.

Why not pay Maz a visit for a once-over?

Worth getting running right, they are great bikes!

I think that may be on the cards, once I have spoken to the dealer. That would be a ride out. Not sure how far it is to his place.

Well that's me done for the night, just been over the bike getting rid of Saturdays road grime and the oil all over the exhaust.
Just got to wait till tomorrow now to find out what is going to happen with it. I will say one thing, the mechanic at Weatherleys couldn't do enough to help me on Saturday. Even made himself late home.

Probably buying more Buells to import.

Give it to Maz, you won't do better. What ever the difficulty to get it there its your best investment.
