Greetings,

Last autumn I bought my X1 from my friend Jim who is a member here. Jimbo something is his forum name here. After one failed attempt at a TPS reset which resulted in a snortin snarling beast of a bike we got it right second time and now have a snorting snarling beastie in all the right ways.

I have to say I like it very much. Coming from british bikes I'm not afraid of oil leaks or fixing or fettling so I think I will be ok, and in a way it is in the same tradition as my Norton Commando - an obsolete engine persuaded to deliver healthy power and put in a capable chassis. I was surprised how good a bike it is compared to the very mediocre press they got at the time.

It says on the fuel cap that it's a limited edition racing stripe but I have no idea what's different about that from standard, not a lot I guess.

Anyway I shall pop up from time to time, if you don't mind , asking noob questions about oil, tyres , belts and other things that have no doubt been beat to death already.

Cheers Rob.

Welcome, you have made a wise choice...in some ways! Buells are undoubtedly the best bikes in the world to ride, but they really get under your skin.

Now you have joined the best forum on the internet, with the best bunch of people that you could ever meet. As Jill says - you can check out any time, but you can never leave - so you are stuck with us now :D

You are reasonably handy for East Kirby, so bring your X1 along to Ems day - details in the events section - show her off and meet a load of us. It is going to be a pretty special event this year. Like the bikes, the company of their owners is also addictive, so you can start planning what other events you are coming to :run:

Welcome to the Club. :sun:
The Racing Stripe was just paint job. Snap Red, two white stripes, black frame, white wheels and a number on the petrol cap. 300 were sold in Europe and 400 in the USA.

Thanks for the warm welcome one and all.

I'd love to attend the East Kirby event, and yes it's not too far, but unfortunately I'll be out of the country. I'll try to get along to something else sometime.

Regarding the Racing Stripe element, yes it seems to be just a paint job, although mine is Blue not Red and Jim told me it has PM wheels fitted rather than the originals.

Jim incidentally has moved on/back? to a carb'd S1, whilst his brother has an X1 (not that I've seen it).

Perhaps Jim will chime in at some stage!

Cheers Rob.

Thanks Deepsix, I rather hoped a document like that existed. Especially as it has a slight 'puke' with the engine idling, - looks like the primary breather according to what I read there.

Cheers Rob.
