Howdy,

Joined the forum last night in the hope I could gain some good advise. Belt snapped on my xb12 last night (13,000)miles. Middle of nowhere and the kindness of strangers still exists in this day and age. Was quickly helped by a man with a van and the buell is safely back in its home. Beltless!

I hoped someone on the forum might know where I should take the buell for a refit of the belt, I live in London so if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them,

read lots about people expecting lifetime warranty on the belts, I think I should save my breath!

cheers Stu

The lifetime is defined as "until it snaps", so you'll have to buy a new one :P

And if you can't fit the new one yourself get it to Blackbear at Newmarket ;)

I don't know what the reputation of these guys is these days but they have been a HD dealer for years. I'm sure a belt wouldn't be beyond them......... http://www.warrs.com/

Surfstu,

As has been said, one of the VERY few places you should trust is BlackBear. If you are south London and just need a belt change, I would also be so bold as to recommend MooreSpeed in Poole. The forum will probably kick off at this point, but for just a simple belt change, MooreSpeed are fne.

Alternatively, for a simple belt change, I'd be happy to head up your way and show you how its done. I'm in Portsmouth so can only get to you at weekends. Get the parts ordered in in advance as its a long run for me to ge get to you just to find out that the bits aren't there! If you are not sure what is needed, just PM me.

My first one let go at 12,700m so you are into the average lifespan - the 'lifetrime guarantee' is meaningless.

Whether you take me up on the offer or not, remember that any idiot can take a Buell apart - you have to know what you are doing to put it together again.

Dave

Thanks for the offer Dave from Scotland, can't believe there is no one in London (other than Warrs - who I'm not a fan of) who can do the belt change.

Met a fellow forum head yesterday in westend, think his name was slim? He also recommended Black bear to buy the belt but Newmarket is too far to get the bike too,

Happy to buy the belt from Blackbear, can anyone suggest a london mechanic who is independant (in business!) and knows buells?

Stu

Hi Stu, Yep that was me in Soho. usually I go to an independent mechanic (Motopshycho) when the bike has minor service
to do , he is honest and reliable.
