G'day everyone.
I'm an Aussie that relocated to the UK over 2 years ago.
I have been riding on the road 12 years and have like the style of Buell for a while.
So recently I purchased a pre-loved 1125R, it might even have belonged to a member of this site.
It's my first Buell so I'm seeking advice about service. I've read that some "inexperienced" workshops have caused damage to the belts while changing the rear tyre, causing early failure.
I live in North London and would like to know of any recommended places to service my Buell as I don't want some clueless bozo prying the belt off with a screwdriver.
Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas.

Take the wheels out and check the wheel bearings with your fingers, even if they're about to collapse you won't feel any play at the rim. Never ever get your tyres changed by someone who doesn't torque the spindles to spec (I torque them a little lower - don't worry your pinch bolts will secure the spindles ;) ). The rear spindle is tapered and the belt gets slack as you undo it, so don't worry about the belt being tight.
What year is it? The 08's don't have expensive to fix charging issues like the later models, but do have their own little 'quirks'. Once sorted, they're one of the best V twins out there and as good as anything Italian ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if, in years to come, the Helicon becomes a classic motor like the high cam Vincent and the Suzuki TL :yup:

G'day. Not known for blowing our own trumpet but a lot of folk on here won't appreciate quite how close you are to Black Bear.

We are in Newmarket which, from most parts of North London, is about an hour's ride.

All of our technicians are experienced with all Buells but Jon in particular has probably carried out more 12000 mile services on 1125s than any other technician in the country.

Don't plan to call or visit on a Monday (as I'm sure someone will be along to tell you soon) and for the next two weeks better avoid Tuesdays as well lOl I'll be at work on Friday for the first time in nearly a fortnight 8-)

Steve

It is an 08 model, has about 7k miles on it, not using it to commute, just a weekend toy, might take some time before the 12k service.
I won't need new tyres for a little while, still has plenty of tread.
Thanks for the info, looking forward to the warmer months.
