Location: Wales. The land of dragons, welshcakes and full reservoirs.
Just had a few road tax renewals through, that has highlighted the bonkers way we are treated as bikers.

1) Chevy 5.7 Litre Petrol engine truck Zero Rated (due to age) 14MPG on a good day, loved by Polar Bears everywhere.

2) Dacia Sandero 1.5 Diesel with 99g/km Co2 Zero Rated admittedly 60+mpg all day, but it is a smelly oil burner.

3) Suzuki Bandit 1250 50+ mpg c/w catalytic converter £88.00 pa Why?

Grateful for the first two, but still :sad1:

I agree, it makes no sense. So much for encouraging folk onto less polluting means of transport.

Having said that - I'm not sure most bikes can be classed as less polluting, especially the ones most of us ride :D They certainly don't provide good mpg - but I'm ok with that :yup:

IIRC in a chat with Blackrag he was saying you could pay monthly £7.50 for road tax ,then sorn it at any time & they stop taking the money, so you could do a month at a time ?
although i may have been drinking during said chat ..

Western Australia is now adding about 200 quid a year to every vehicle road tax for third party insurance. I wouldn't mind doing it once per owner, as you can only ride/ drive 1 vehicle at a time. I'm currently being stung for 1000 quid a year!
