Hi,

I have a standard M2 Cyclone, which I would like to stage 1. I'm looking for an exhaust to do that, with brackets etc.. to fit onto the standard headers, if possible. Or alternatively, and whole system would do.

Thanks in advance

97-98 or 99-02? If you can find one, a V&H is OK for standard headers. if you can, stretch to the race headers and can. Original Buell ones are scarce, but a few folks make good replica systems now.

If you still have European gearing, the first change should be to fit US gearing, bang for the buck etc.

It's for a friend - I actually have an X1. I suspect its the later one, as it has the X1 type swing-arm. Its very low mileage, and completely standard, including exhaust. Does this mean someone may want the original exhaust once its swapped over?

It's only my opinion, but any changes you make to an original bike should be fully reversible including things like air box, silencer etc... Very few original bikes around now and in the future, it is these that are most desirable. Whether that interests you or your mate is not my choice, it's up to you. Sometimes, you do see people asking if anyone has the originals for sale. That will increase as time goes on.

You might advise your mate to check his primary chain tensioner if it is 2000 or earlier, these often break. And the oil pump skew drive needs changing too before it fails. HTH.

I have also been recommended this chap - http://www.aph-performance-engineering.com/tube_frame_models.html - he's been very helpful, and it seems like good kit at a good price - but there is a bit of a turn-around time, understandably.

Yes, that's Albert of this parish. Of course, he'll make whatever you want. I'd recommend a replica Pro Race system as they are a well proven system on the tuber Buell's. The originals had a tendency towards cracking due to flexing which can be cured by mods. I'm sure Albert has all the gen on that.
