Plus front fork overhaul, Mikuni HSR42 and US gearing if not already fitted......... You need to put it in perspective, it's like having a brand new bike but 18 years old. Probably new battery too?

I think a sorted one is the way forward for me , they do turn up from time to time

I haven't that much of a clue really, I'm guessing. But it always costs more than you think it will. How much do you think you'd spend if you took that S1 someplace and asked them to make it into a good one?

I think the problem you have is the perennial one. It always costs more to do a proper restoration to a good standard than the bike is "worth".

How much do you expect to pay for a sorted S1? And what is your definition of "sorted" it might be different than mine.

What about a late X1? A better bike and most of the "issues" with S1's are already fixed on them.

I have seen them in the past in good nick 5-6k , I will happily pay that for the right one .

Did think about an X1 but I know i would always have the s1 in the back of my mind and no be happy till I had one .

Was always told if you have had a dream of owning summit then don't get it as it will disappoint ! But I doubt it with this

For 5-6K you should be able to pick up a good looking one , but mileage can cost and internals can wear if not looked after. Buying one that is known on here would be a safer bet with some mechanical history. If you spend a lot of money on a bike personalising it , you`ll never get the money back. I`ve bought cheap and expensive S1`s and end up spending a lot on both :rotfl:

My white lightning stands me at close to 10k :o I know I'd never get that back. But it looks, goes and stops like I want it to and as it'll never be up for sale until I'm physically unable to ride it. Resale value becomes irrelevant :yup:
