The figures you use for bhp are for hp and therefore bhp is lower.

Hmm, hp can be measured on a brake or inferred from acceleration data (Newton's laws), I think you are getting mixed up with where you measure, at the crank, the gearbox output shaft or the rear wheel...
Indeed, I'm with Pash on this one. There are a couple of ways of measuring it, one with inertia and one with a braked system but they both should give the same number.

All the other colours were S1W, these were also called Lightning Strikes in the UK.

So S1W = Lightning Strike?

That's my understanding too. S1W is the Lightning Strike and S1WL is the White Lightning.

etc etc

And never mind whether knowledge or information is power, it's certainly scarce!

I think the Strike was only called that outside the US. Note that the "facts" on those archive pages are not 100% correct for export bikes. Export = 2" header outlet, slightly different bread box arrangement, lower rated BHP etc....

There's other stuff too that may not be apparent from the archives, like different engine oiling scheme, uprated oil pump, different front caliper (NISSIN v PM), 1/2" v 5/8" bore front master cylinder from 97 to >98 etc............

There was also a change in wheel manufacture from Marchesini to Castalloy sometime in the 96 to 97 era though they look the same. Can't remember the excat date of change.

I donated my Buell literature to the group ages ago, Dilligaf bought it, so I'm going solely from memory now.

Do not believe there ever was an actual factory model designation "S1WL". Only S1 and S1W.

My god, am I a sad bastard
